Reasons why you might decide to use me for your research
- I have an academic background in teaching, publishing and research.
- I enjoy the process of genealogical research and problem solving.
- I have a long and extensive experience of managing a one-name-study, personal research and publishing.
- I am fully aware of the difficulties faced by researchers who are based some distance away from much needed primary sources. The lack of time and the high cost of travel prohibiting researchers from obtaining information that they really want and need. As a result no job is too small, even a single simple look-up.
- With my cost for research based upon £10 per hour, this makes me cheaper than many other research services. You may find that this works out cheaper than if you travel to a venue yourself.
What I can offer you
- Research in Worcestershire and the neighbouring counties of Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Staffordshire, Shropshire, Warwickshire and also Birmingham.
- Look-ups and location of records in those areas.
- Block extractions from records to support one-name-studies or other personal research.
- The opportunity to add to your own research by broadening your knowledge of an individual, organisation or place.
- Creation of pedigrees / birth briefs
- Transcription of documents, including wills and deeds.
- Transcription of parish registers and other extensive records for publication or personal use.
- Monumental inscription research at burial grounds / record offices, working on site or using existing inscription publications.
- Indexing of existing transcripts.
- Photographs of churches, dwellings and other historic buildings as required.
- Photocopies of essential documents, including published extracts, parish records, probate records, maps and indexes.
- Location of documents of probate and wills.
- Short courses for those who are new to genealogical research or advanced courses tailored to suit more experienced researchers.
What you will receive
- A personal service, leaving you in control of your research and being the owner of any research that is completed.
- Regular updates by post and email for more extensive research projects.
- The presentation of research in written and digital formats.
- A clear description of sources and work that has been carried out.

You will receive your quotation for work to be done by return and a prompt response to all enquires and work undertaken.
When asking for work to be done you must tell me as much as you can and update me as more information becomes available. This will ensure that you are only paying for new information and that I am not duplicating information that you already have.
Charges start at £10 per hour for routine work.
The charge for half a day's work (4 hours) is £30.
The charge for a day's work (7 hours) is £50.
There are no hidden charges.
Travel and copying costs are built into the above rates.
